Woofers who doesn´t show up

We have had problems with woofers who changed plans with short notice or simple didn´t show up. At the same time we have said no to other woofers who wanted to come... Now we are standing there whith lots work but no woofers...

In my opinion it is normal that people change plans sometimes, but it is really a shame that they didn't send a message with the proper time in advance!

Dear Wwoofers ... when a host say "You are welcome" they plan your work and they are waiting for you ... PLEASE let the host know in advance in case you change your plans!

Is that any Wwoofer near Cecilia place that can help her?

I know the feeling, last year was fine. only one cancellation.
but this year we have had several, probably one month altogether of empty space.
Short notice cancellations are very bad, since lots of woofers have been turned down by us. and then suddenly spaces are empty and less wwoofers get to experience sweden...
We do not cancel woofers only because somebody more competent contact us. If we say yes we stick to that. But sometimes I wonder.......

I have experienced this also for the first time this year. One couple who didn´t show up. But in my case it could also be because of trouble with the wwoof-site, where I´ve might not got all mails or answers. But...I also have my regular email posted, so...Plans could change quickly, yes...but PLEASE let us hosts know....

I think one way to make this problem less if there would be a structure so there would be no spam-requests.

So best would be that wwoofers check clearly out where they want to go and then they send a mail to host and if they do not get any answer within two days first then they can also send another request to another host.

Second it would also be good if both wwoofers and hosts can write down references of host-place and wwoofer. References does not say much but it makes people more carefully so they not will have too many marks like "did not show up - changed plans - went to another host instead".

For myself I now want to have arrival time with train or with air as soon as possible - about one month before a wwoofer will come. And if I do not get it I just say that I must have it - otherwise there can be so that there is no place here.

Now when a WWOOFer login on WWOOF Portugal, they see this message:

We are having an increasing number of complaints about WWOOFers that make agreement to visit but then don't turn up to the Hosts.
We can understand that sometimes you choose to change your plans, but PLEASE send a message to your Host before or as soon as possible after you change your plans! Don't forget that they are waiting for you.

Hi Hosts and volunteers,

thanks for this message! My medium of time I spend with the planning is up to 1 hour a day... after cancelling, no show or just stay a day or two even more! This is not Couch Surfing... If people send a request and after the information confirm that they come, I can go to 4 volunteers at the same time. After this I have to cancel other people!!! Perhaps this are not volunteers but hackers or so... can someone check? Or is this all about not being polite enough to send a message in a case of ´changing plans´ by people who are more mailing, messaging or internetting than any other generation...
